TN Govt. Ties Up With Campus To Conduct Tech-Textile Workshops

Department of Handlooms and Textiles, Government of Tamil Nadu and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International School of Textiles and Management (SVPITM) are jointly organizing a series of workshops for the establishment of Technical Textile activity. The workshops include 3 phases where the first phase would elaborate on the various field in technical textiles, product development, manufacturing process and market. The second and third phase comprises of planning and execution business plan on Technical Textiles sector respectively.

 

The existing and budding textile entrepreneurs in and around Tamil Nadu were the target participants. The textile industries can work to enhance their products by value addition for the Technical Textile arena.

 

The establishment of Technical Textile Wing was held at Sardar Vallabhai Patel International School of Textiles & Management (SVPITM), Avinashi road, Coimbatore on 10th March, 2018

 

In continuation of the above a Sectorial Program - I on Medical Textiles is scheduled during April 5-8, 2018. In Sectorial program , participants will undergo (both theoretical and practical) on their respective sector exposure including Industrial Visit. This sectorial training program includes sessions on Medical Textile – Products, Manufacturing Process, Technology, Machines, Standards, Market Demand and Marketing Strategy.

 

A field visit will be arranged for the participants to Manufacturing and Application Site to understand the practical aspects. Participants will also be provided with questionnaire to conduct a survey at Health care centres / Medical Textile Product Dealers / End Users. In the last day sessions on New Product Development, Brain Storming Session, SWOT Analysis, discussion on Intellectual Property Rightsand New Business startups has been planned.

 

Sectorial Programme II and III will be conducted in the same month on the following sectors.

  • Agro Textiles
  • Home Textiles
  • Industrial Textiles
  • Packing Textiles.

 

 

The resource persons are from various Manufacturing Industries Research Associations, Center of Excellences, Higher Learning Institutions, etc.,

 

Later in Phase-II and Phase-III the participants will be trained for preparing the business plan. Required assistance and support will be provided for evaluating their business plan in product development and commercialization.

 

These Technical Textiles Workshops will be a platform to provide technical support, knowhow and the entire necessary infrastructure at one place. It will provide an opportunity for the conventional textile entrepreneurs to extend their business in technical textiles field with the existing facility. And also it is going to be a key for the budding entrepreneurs to start a business in technical textiles field.  Thereby the dependency for the technical textile products on the other countries will be self-sustained. It leads to improve the economic value of Textiles product and a positive economic impact in Textile field.
