The Union Ministry of
Textiles has approved the PM MITRA Textile Park project in Madhya Pradesh,
marking a significant milestone in India's efforts to modernize its textile
infrastructure. The ambitious Rs. 2,100 crore development plan for the PM Mega
Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Park received the formal
approval on 23rd April.
The park will spread
across 2,100 acres area in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh and is set to become
a state-of-the-art industrial hub for textiles. The park will feature advanced common
facilities including a 20 MLD Zero Liquid Discharge system, a solar power
plant, plug-and-play factory units, and accommodation for workers. The
application process for land allotment within the park will commence soon.
The park is part of the
seven PM MITRA parks announced by the central government, aiming to establish
cutting-edge large-scale textile infrastructure encompassing the entire value
chain at a single location. This initiative is expected to streamline
logistics, attract substantial investment, and significantly enhance India's
textile production and export capabilities. The government has stated that
construction of the park shall be completed within 14 months.
The park has already
generated considerable investment interest, with the government revealing
commitments worth Rs. 10,000 crore. Once operational, the PM MITRA Park is
expected to create employment opportunities for lakhs of people, bolstering
Madhya Pradesh’s textile industry base and contributing to the state's economic
growth.
Strategically situated in
Bhainsola village, Badnawar tehsil of Dhar district, the park is approximately
110 km from Indore, 85 km from the Pithampur industrial cluster, and 60 km from
the Thandla interchange on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. Additionally, the park
is about 425 km away from the Hazira port, ensuring robust connectivity for
trade and logistics.
The PM MITRA Park is
jointly developed by Union and Madhya Pradesh Govt. for which MoU was signed in
May 2023. It represents a significant leap forward for Madhya Pradesh's quest
for modern, sustainable textile industry infrastructure and employment
generation.
