Wool Research Association Joins IWTO, Strengthens India’s Global Footprint In Wool Science

International Wool Textile Organisation has welcomed Wool Research Association into its global network, marking a strategic boost to India’s presence in advanced wool research and standardisation.

Established in 1963 under the Ministry of Textiles, WRA operates as a key technical body supporting the entire wool value chain. Its NABL accredited laboratories comply with ISO IEC 17025 standards across 699 testing parameters, enabling global acceptance of quality certifications.

India’s wool and woollen exports are estimated at over US$1.2 billion annually, while global wool trade continues to emphasise traceability, sustainability, and performance testing. WRA’s expertise in fibre processing, dyeing technologies, and consultancy strengthens industry capability in these areas.

The collaboration enhances knowledge exchange, promotes innovation, and aligns Indian wool standards with global benchmarks, reinforcing competitiveness across international markets.
