Vardhman Textiles Invests In Clean Energy

Vardhman Textiles Ltd has invested Rs. 24.46 crore in Renew Green (MPR Four) Private Limited to secure a 31.2% stake in a wind-solar hybrid power project being developed in Ratlam district of Madhya Pradesh.

The project, being set up in partnership with Renew Green Energy Solutions Private Limited, will have a combined capacity of 19 MW AC, supported by 26.4 MW of wind power and 15 MW of solar power capacity. Vardhman has subscribed to 4,64,926 equity shares of the project company as part of the transaction.

The investment forms part of the textile major’s strategy to increase the use of renewable energy in its operations while ensuring long-term power security and cost efficiency. Under the arrangement, Vardhman will source electricity generated from the captive power plant for its manufacturing operations.

The company had earlier entered into a Share Subscription and Shareholders’ Agreement along with a captive power purchase agreement for the project.

With rising energy costs and growing sustainability pressures, textile companies are increasingly turning to captive renewable energy projects to reduce dependence on conventional grid power and lower their carbon footprint. The hybrid model also helps ensure more stable power generation by combining wind and solar sources.
