India recently recorded a 2.1% increase in textile
exports during the financial year 2025 to 2026. Total export value reached an
impressive Rs 3,16,334.9 crore or roughly US$38 billion. Ready-made garments
grew 2.9% to reach Rs 1,39,349.6 crore. Man-made yarn and fabrics posted a
stronger growth of 3.6%. Domestic manufacturers are scaling operations to meet
this rising global demand. Swasti Vinayaka Limited stands at the absolute
forefront of this industrial expansion. The established company boasts a
massive manufacturing capacity of 1.3 million meters of woven fabric every
month. Managing Director Rajesh Poddar recently discussed their strategic
growth plans during the monumental Bharat Tex exhibition. The detailed
discussion highlighted their strategic transition toward direct garment
manufacturing and the introduction of groundbreaking non-iron shirt technology.
Textile Excellence brings you this exclusive conversation detailing the future
roadmap of this renowned textile powerhouse.
Please tell us about the foundational
journey and current manufacturing capabilities of Swasti Vinayaka.
Rajesh Poddar:
Our company holds a deep legacy in the Indian market. We incorporated in 1978
and became a public limited entity listed on the BSE in 1985. We operate
manufacturing units in Tarapur and Palghar. Weaving remains our primary
expertise. We utilize dobbies and jacquards to produce diverse fabrics
including cotton blends. Linen blends represent our forte and unique selling
proposition. We believe strongly in continuous creativity and technological
innovation. We currently execute specialized treatments like Arrow finish and
LA finish. We work extensively with long cotton fibres and premium Egyptian
cottons to deliver superior quality.
You mentioned specialized finishes like LA
finish which remains quite rare. Do you process these fabrics internally?
Rajesh Poddar: We
handle all our processing requirements in Tarapur. We collaborate closely with
neighbouring expert processors like Texwiz and Kriplon. This collaborative
approach allows us to achieve flawless specialized finishes.
What market segments and client volumes are you
currently targeting with these premium fabrics across India?
Rajesh Poddar: We
cater primarily to leading retail brands. We currently supply customized made
to order fabrics to approximately 30 major domestic apparel brands and 20
prominent export houses. We maintain a robust dealer network to distribute our
products to regional wholesalers and independent retailers. We recently
initiated direct fabric exports to two international markets and plan to expand
this footprint next year. Our current production volume ranges consistently
between 1.2 million to 1.4 million meters every single month to satisfy this
massive domestic and international demand.
You announced a major shift toward direct
garmenting. What are the specific expansion plans in this new domain?
Rajesh Poddar: We
are actively setting up a state-of-the-art garmenting unit in Tarapur. The
facility becomes fully operational by December. We will concentrate exclusively
on premium taped shirts and formal wear. The initial phase launches with 125
specialized machines. We possess an additional vacant factory space that can
eventually house up to 2000 machines to support our long-term vision.
Your son Aryan recently launched a new
premium consumer brand. What makes this new venture unique in the highly
competitive domestic market?
Rajesh Poddar:
Aryan launched House of Namak to specifically target the ultra-premium
lifestyle segment. The brand focuses exclusively on high end t shirts and
formal shirts. We utilize luxurious liquid cotton which undergoes a specialized
double mercerized process using long staple fibres to ensure incredible
softness and an elegant sheen. We are also introducing true non-iron baked
shirts to Indian consumers. Only five manufacturing plants globally possess the
advanced technology required to manufacture these specific baked garments. The
fabric achieves a durable press rating of 4 plus. The shirts are moulded in an
oven to shape the shoulders and body while being taped at seven critical
structural points.
How did the international buying community
respond to your innovations at the Bharat Tex exhibition?
Rajesh Poddar:
Bharat Tex serves as an exceptional global platform to showcase our
capabilities. We hosted over 20 serious foreign buyer delegations at our stall
during the first two days alone. We held productive meetings with buyers from
the United States, Israel, Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Turkey.
Attendee quality remained exceptionally high. The event organizers could
improve navigation maps because buyers struggled slightly to locate specific
stalls across different floors. The general exhibition areas could also use
better air conditioning to combat the heat. The business outcome remains very
positive.
