India’s
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has launched a seven-point export
action plan focused on boosting manufacturing, empowering MSMEs and expanding
India’s global market presence.
At
the Board of Trade meeting in New Delhi, Goyal announced the ₹25,000 crore
Export Promotion Mission (EPM) to help MSMEs scale up exports through easier
finance, market access, certifications, compliance support, warehousing,
freight assistance and global branding.
The
mission will work through two pillars - NIRYAT PROTSAHAN and NIRYAT DISHA -
aimed at increasing exporter participation and improving competitiveness.
90-day
export sprint across 120 districts
A
major push will come through a 90-day export drive across 120 priority
districts in 27 States and Union Territories under the Districts as Export Hubs
initiative.
The
programme will focus on adding new exporters, strengthening MSME clusters and
promoting local products under One District One Product (ODOP) and GI
initiatives.
India
recorded its highest-ever exports of US$ 863 billion in FY 2025-26, with
merchandise exports at around US$ 442 billion and services exports crossing US$
421 billion.
Textiles,
industrial parks in focus
The
meeting also reviewed the Ministry of Textiles’ Vision 2030, targeting US$100
billion in textile and apparel exports, underlining the sector’s importance in
India’s export journey.
Goyal
urged States to accelerate participation in the BHAVYA Industrial Parks Scheme,
which aims to develop 100 industrial parks with an investment of ₹33,660 crore.
He
also stressed the need for better testing facilities, quality infrastructure
and reduced compliance costs to make Indian products more competitive globally.
FTA
advantage and global expansion
With
India’s expanding Free Trade Agreement network opening access to markets with a
combined GDP of over US$ 27 trillion, Goyal called on exporters to actively
participate in international trade fairs, exhibitions and business delegations.
He
also encouraged States to promote cross-border e-commerce and strengthen export
channels through Dak Ghar Niryat Kendras.
Calling
exports a priority for every State, Goyal said the US$1 trillion export target
can be achieved through stronger Centre-State coordination, regular reviews and
a globally competitive manufacturing ecosystem.
