President Droupadi Murmu Empowers Graduates At NIFT Combined Convocation 2026

President of India Droupadi Murmu graced the National Institute of Fashion Technology Combined Convocation 2026 as Chief Guest today at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi. Graduating scholars representing 18 NIFT campuses nationwide assembled to celebrate the conferment of their degrees. The historic ceremony marked the academic culmination of rigorous design education while honouring outstanding students across each academic discipline with prestigious gold medals for achieving the highest cumulative grade point averages.

Union Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh attended the grand ceremony alongside senior ministry officials and Board of Governors members. Singh interacted closely with graduating students from the stage to encourage their future endeavours. The Minister stated, "Seeing their talent, confidence and enthusiasm strengthened the belief that these youngsters will take the name of the country to new heights with their skills." The Minister further remarked that witnessing this nationwide gathering of creative talent at Yashobhoomi was a true pleasure for the entire textile fraternity.

Established in 1986 under the Ministry of Textiles, the National Institute of Fashion Technology operates 20 professionally managed campuses across India. The premier statutory institution equips young innovators with design expertise, technical knowledge, and creative capabilities to elevate domestic fashion systems. India projects its domestic fashion and apparel market to expand beyond US$105.50 billion in 2026, while the textiles sector contributes nearly 2.3% to national gross domestic product. These fresh graduates will drive sustainable practices, supply chain transformation, and modern design aesthetics to strengthen export competitiveness and build a globally connected Viksit Bharat.
