New high-tech facility
targets global sportswear, activewear and intimate apparel brands seeking
sourcing flexibility, advanced fabrics and more integrated supply chains.
Vietnam is getting a major
boost in high-performance fabric manufacturing. China’s Billion Rise has opened
the first phase of a new, US$ 100 million facility in Thanh Hoa, Vietnam,
giving global sportswear, activewear, swimwear and intimate apparel brands
another sourcing option as they diversify production.
The vertically integrated
textile materials manufacturer is developing the facility in three phases, with
a total planned area of approximately 320,000 sq m and annual production
capacity of up to 100 million metres.
Phase one is complete,
covering around 110,000 sq m. Phase two, scheduled for completion in Q3 2027,
will add knitting, dyeing and printing capacity. Phase three is due in Q3 2029.
China expertise, Vietnam
flexibility
The new operation
complements Billion Rise’s established manufacturing base in Qing Yuan, China,
giving customers greater geographic flexibility without compromising on
technical capabilities.
“We’re pleased to give our
customers greater sourcing flexibility with the addition of our Vietnam
operation to our established manufacturing base in Qing Yuan China,” said
Charles Chen, CEO and Owner of Billion Rise. “After a decade of investment in
developing the facility and building it to the same high standards our
customers expect from us, we’re confident Vietnam will deliver the quality,
technical expertise and consistency our brand partners require.”
The facility is being
equipped with capabilities comparable to the company’s China operation,
including warp and weft knitting, dyeing, digital, flat-bed and heat-transfer
printing, stentering and finishing. A wastewater treatment system and rooftop
solar installation are also part of the project.
More than a factory
Vietnam’s growing
reputation for producing high-volume, technically complex performance fabrics
is attracting US activewear, swimwear and intimate apparel brands looking to diversify
sourcing. Its established garment manufacturing base also offers an opportunity
to bring fabric production and garment-making closer together.
“Our investment in Vietnam
goes beyond the physical facility,” said JP Brogan, US Managing Director of
Sales and Marketing at Billion Rise. “We’ve also dedicated resources in
materials strategy expertise across our global team along with AI and 3D
visualization tools that help brands identify white space, build key material
franchises, and quickly visualize new opportunities.”
A trade advantage for
Europe
The Vietnam-EU Free Trade
Agreement offers European brands another reason to look at Vietnam. It provides
for the elimination of 99% of tariffs, reduces regulatory barriers and opens
services and public procurement markets. For EU and UK brands, local fabric
sourcing could help build more integrated supply chains in the region.
“With our new factory, we
can now better support brands looking to build more integrated value chains in
Vietnam while expanding our business across these important markets,” said Steven
Moore, Global Sales Director at Billion Rise.
The company plans to
showcase its latest fabric innovations and share updates on the Vietnam
facility at international trade shows this autumn in Munich, Shanghai, Tokyo,
Hanoi and Portland.
“With our new factory, we can now better support brands looking to build more integrated value chains in Vietnam while expanding our business across these important markets,” said Steven Moore, Global Sales Director at Billion Rise.
